FAQ

Answers to common questions about selling your diecast

How much do you pay for my items?
We base our offers on real market sold-comp data, not guesswork. For each item, we research recent eBay "sold" listings (not active asking prices) to find what similar pieces in comparable condition have actually sold for over the past few months. This gives us a true current market value rather than an inflated or outdated one. From that sold-comp average, we typically offer 30% to 50% of the value, depending on factors like condition, completeness (original box/packaging), rarity, and how quickly the item is likely to resell. Items in excellent condition with strong, consistent sold comps tend to land at the higher end of that range, while items with condition issues, inconsistent sales history, or slower resale demand fall closer to the lower end. We're happy to walk you through the comps we used for your specific items so you can see exactly how we arrived at our number — no lowball tactics, no mystery math.
Do you pay cash?
Yes! We pay cash for your collectible diecast, model kits, model trains, and more. If you'd prefer, we can also pay by check, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App or Zelle — whatever works best and fastest for you.
Do you charge any fees or commissions?
No. We charge no fees or commissions.
What types of items do you buy?
We focus on diecast cars (including Auto World, Exoto, First Gear, Hot Wheels), model kits (Tamiya, Airfix, Hasegawa, Revell), model trains (Lionel, Bachmann), military diecast (Corgi, Dragon, Forces of Valor) and farm toys (ERTL, SpecCast, Universal Hobbies) and more. If you have other collectibles, feel free to ask — we're always happy to chat.
Do you buy other toys and collectibles?
Yes, we'll consider other types of toys and collectibles too — Star Wars, LEGO, Masters of the Universe, Transformers and more. Send us photos and we'll take a look.
Do you buy built model kits?
We prefer unbuilt model kits, either factory sealed or open box.
Do you only buy locally in Jacksonville?
While we're based in and specialize in the Jacksonville, FL area — including Orange Park, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, and Fernandina Beach — where we can arrange local pickup or a quick meet-up, we're not limited to just this region. For collections outside our immediate area, we'll send you a prepaid shipping label and cover the shipping costs ourselves for smaller items, or arrange a meet-up convenient for both parties.
What type of Hot Wheels do you buy?
We're primarily interested in collectible and rare Hot Wheels, including Treasure Hunts (and Super Treasure Hunts), vintage Redline-era models, and limited specialty or convention releases, provided they're in good condition. We generally do not purchase standard modern mainline 1:64 scale Hot Wheels, as these are typically more common and lower in resale value.
Do you buy single items or only large collections?
Both! Whether you have a single rare diecast car, model kit, or train, or an entire estate collection you've inherited or are downsizing, we're interested. We purchase everything from individual pieces to full collections of any size, and we're happy to give you a no-obligation offer either way.
Do you buy the whole collection or just the valuable pieces?
Typically we buy the whole collection. After reviewing it, we'll sometimes make an offer on just the pieces that are worth picking up.
Do you buy NASCAR diecast?
We buy select NASCAR diecast, focusing on higher-end, limited-edition pieces and newer Lionel Racing collectibles. We generally do not purchase standard, mass-produced NASCAR diecast, as these tend to have limited resale value. If you're not sure whether yours qualify, feel free to reach out.
How do I get an offer?
Getting an offer is easy. Fill out the form above, or email clear photos along with a brief description of your diecast cars, model kits, model trains, or other collectibles to sales@castlediecast.com, or text us at 1-904-497-0664. We'll review your items and respond quickly — usually within 24 hours — with either a cash offer or a few follow-up questions.
Do I need to sort or list everything first?
No sorting needed. Photos give us a general idea of the condition and types of items — just include an estimated number of items so we can size up the collection.
How soon can you pick up?
We can usually pick up within a few days of agreeing on a day and time that works for you.
What condition do the items need to be in?
We consider items in any condition, from brand new in the original box to gently used or displayed pieces. Condition plays a major role in determining value — items in mint or near-mint condition with original packaging typically receive higher offers. Even if your collection isn't in perfect shape, we're still happy to take a look and make a fair offer.
How should I package items for shipping?
Once we agree on a purchase and arrange shipping, we'll provide clear, step-by-step guidance on how to safely pack your items for transit — tips on cushioning, box selection, and securing original packaging, so everything arrives in the same condition it left you.
How do I know this is a legitimate business?
Castle Diecast is a real, established buyer registered in Florida as an LLC, with a track record of fair, transparent offers — no lowball tactics or runaround. We're happy to communicate by phone, email, or text throughout the process, and we stand behind every offer we make.
Can you appraise my collection without buying it?
We'll assist the best we can, but we can't guarantee firm values for insurance, estate or other purposes.
Do you offer consignment?
We evaluate consignment requests case by case. Tell us about your collection and what you have in mind.
When do I get paid?
Payment timing depends on the arrangement. For local pickups or meet-ups, we typically pay on the spot once we've inspected the items. For shipped items, we pay promptly after the collection arrives and is verified to match the agreed description — usually within a day or two.
